I have my "tire pressure low" warning coming on in the morning when the tires are cold. The DIC reads that they are at 25psi after I get them rolling. I have now used two manual gauges reading them at the 28psi I have set them to "cold". At no point do the tires get less than 28psi (according to my gauges). But the TPMS seems to think so. What should I do?
FYI: I have found the 28psi cold to be what's needed to make my NTO5's wear evenly. I do not want to add more pressure. I am asking why the disparity between gauges, and how to stop the warning.
warning kicks on a 25-26 psi....you lose 1 psi for every 10 degree drop in ambient air temp...if you set pressure at 85 and temp drops to 55 overnight you will have 25 psi at start up....set tires to 28 when its coldest....the tires heat up and run higher than what you set them anyway
there is no way to stop the warning except remove the TPMS....or add air.
TPMS reads the pressure based on rolling resistance after you get to 10 mph....higher psi = less resistance as the tire heats up, air inside heats up and expands...psi reading increases etc..
I appreciate the fast response, but I already have the tires set to 28psi cold. They have nowhere to go but up in pressure. Why is the TPMS reading 25psi and throwing a warning?

Some discrepancy between a TP gauge and the DIC is normal. I routinely see a 2 lb (~) difference, with the DIC usually reading lower than the gauge. I agree with P99. I always set my pressures cold, and not driving more than a mile or two before correcting/adding air if necessary.
I recommend using a good quality gauge, i.e. NOT a pencil gauge, and trust it over the DIC if in doubt. A decent quality dial or digital gauge usually runs in the ballpark of $20.00 to $25.00 price range and up. Beware of cheapie, crappy gauges. They are everywhere these days.
