Looking for suggestions on tires used mostly for the street and I will be going to a HPDE couple times a year. I have a 2000 with the Goodyear F1's on right now with stock rims and want something that are not run flats. Fronts have to be replaced. Can they be mixed?
this has been asked quite a few times. it basically comes down to NT05 or PSS as the best two. I ran NT05, but didn't love them, and I replaced my rears with BFG Rivals, which are new and supposed to be better than the Star Specs, which I love on my WRX.

I have found a lot of info out there that is on tires that are
not available anymore. What is your WRX?
Your 3 best street tires for HPDE/autocross/street are BFG Rivals, Dunlap Direzza II and Hankook RS3. Second tier would be NT-05, Michelin PSS, Kumho XS. These are extreme performance and other than the Dunlap and Michelin, they are only average or less in the rain.
If I get front and back match set these are the only ones that I see, the PSS, NT05, BFG, Kumho XS don't have it for all 4 tires. Are people getting two different brands?
on a stock base that uses 275 40 18 and 245 45 17 you have one choice, the re11
if you have different wheels you need to tell people what they are so they can help narrow down choices
there's also a new class of tire coming out. the re11a, ad08R, rival, michelin pss and that new dunlop tire are all newer tech over what was top tier 2 years ago
each of those tires has pros and cons over the competitors. michelin has the best wearing and best rain tire but will likely not be quite as quick in the dry and at high temps as the rival or other tires that put more rubber on the road.
no direct tests are out yet comparing them so it's a game of waiting for grassroots to test some in their mag

It's the stock rims 245/45/17, 275/40/18. It's hard to believe that's the only good match pair. Anybody ever mix different brands?
