If you do a Cold Air Intake setup you will get a seat of the pants noticeable difference. I'm personally not a fan of Vararam but it is a more affordable alternative to something like a Callaway Honker. Before my Maggie was installed I had a Honker and it definitely gave you a seat of the pants noticeable improvement.
I tend to agree with this. Whether my butt-dyno worked or just wishful thinking, I felt an increase. I went with the BPP Vortex, http://www.breathlessperformance.com...&productId=885 13 years ago and am still very pleased with it. It was added after I installed my Corsa Indys.
thanks guys for the good information about the air filter no use in spending money on an aftermarket I guess if you get all the hp on what they advertise on different ad-ons you could have one of the fastest vettes around without getting your hands dirty .
The only way you would make more HP is if you had a dirty air filter, Under normal circumstances the gains is HP is from using colder, more dense air. Most air cleaner assemblies do not make any more power, but they sound louder. Those air cleaners that make use of cooler, ambient air in the intake will usually make slightly more HP, but they need to be "tuned" to make use of it. The PCM was designed to use fixed algorithms in computing air flow, temperature, turbulence, etc. and the PCM can be tuned slightly to maximize those benefits. Adding cooler, more dense air may not always benefit a motor if the PCM is making changes that do not maximize that volumetric change. Also, the PCM has firmware that expects a certain amount of turbulence from the rubber coupler from the MAF to the TB. Switching to a smooth coupler may often cost you a tiny amount of HP if the tune is not changed to compensate for it. All told, any change you make will usually mean 4 HP or less on a 345 HP motor.
