My old Vette - 98 coupe - which now belongs to my sister has a continuing problem with water dripping into the passenger side foot area (under the dash, behind the removable carpet panel). Here's the history - last year the air conditioner wasn't blowing sufficient air. I took it to a local Corvette shop and they said the ducts were full of leaves - which I don't doubt since she parks it outside under our beautiful Texas live oaks. Next - she couldn't start it and the same shop diagnosed it as drainage from the air conditioning system. Now - it's rained like hell around here and once again the car is having a problem starting. Lot's of electrical clicking and so on going on where the electricals are located on the passenger side. Right now, I have a fan blowing on it to dry it out. Has anyone seen this before? (I think I saw a thread not long ago, but couldn't find it using search). Any advice would be greatly appreciated........I won't even get into my car being verily flooded during the rains due to a leaky roof. sigh. thanks
P.S. excuse the poor picture of my car....i'm still fooling with the signature.
The air conditioning drain hose sometimes gets pinched or plugged and water drains onto the passenger footwell. The fuse panel can get wet and there goes your electronics.
The fix is to find the drain hose at the firewall and clear it. Mine was done under warranty so I cannot give you more specific information. Perhaps someone else will chime in with more precise directions.
I had a water leak that was getting my passenger carpet wet when driving in the rain, turned out to be that the windshield was replaced while we were on vacation in Montana last year, and the shop that did the job did not install the proper sealant in part of the "A" pillars. My dealer just fixed the leak (I hope), and you could have a leak from another source that is letting the water trickle down to there.
