Bought a C5 with the Breathless Vortex Rammer air filter system already installed. How do I inspect or change out the air filter element? Do I need to remove the plastic box attached to the radiator intake ducting?
Is this element serviceable, or do I just change it out when it gets dirty. Are there other just as good elements to install in its place other than the one from Breathless at $70.
Loosen the clamp. From underneath twist & pull the filter off. Clean & re-oil just like any K&N using the K&N kit. Reverse to install and tighten clamp. This is a lifetime filter and shouldn't need replacement unless it's damaged.
I can grab and put my filter back up just crouching down and putting my hand up the shroud. To pull the filter through the hole just stick you hand in the box and put your hand inside the filter and just pull it through. Getting the MAF in without dropping the filter by yourself is a little tricky, just put the pressure side to side, don't go straight down with it as to push the filter back out of box. You'll get the hand of it though man, good luck!
i can reach up under mine and do it on the ground.. i have a clear box so its easy to see whats going on.. I think i saw some that were black boxes... that could be interesting, gott do by touch.
I dig up the post! I have a vortex admission for 60K miles. And I would like to put a new filter. Where can I find a seller site with shipping to France? Thank you

You don't need a new filter, just clean it like a K&N. I have the same system.
I had a Vortex on my first C5 many years ago. Cleaning was the only negative about it to me, definitely easier with two people. Currently have a Honker, totally serviceable from above.
