This is going to be an interesting thread. After reading jmohn's post below I went and checked the AC Delco site and found a different plug listing with a recommended plug - Delco 41-962 with the .040 gap.
I also check a couple of auto parts stores online catalogs and they show the 41-985's substitute as the 41-110's.
It appears Delco has changed the plug numbers since the last time I replaced plugs and used the Delco Iridium 41-985's. But now their on line catalog listing has shows the 41-962's. Anyone else getting confused?
Here is the link to Delco, put in model year, make, model, engine, ignition parts:
Just replaced the original plugs in my '99 (56,000 mi.) with AC Delco 41-110 iridiums (GM recommended plug). Put them in gapped at .040 (all were good right out of the box); the originals looked good but had a .060 PLUS gap (i.e. some erosion had occurred).
Placebo effect I know, but the engine "feels" smoother.

Won't be very interesting, this horse has been MANY TIMES.
You are right about that, back in the day it was whether to use "something" other than Delco. But at least there was only the old Delco Platinum followed by the Iridium 41-985. The delco site lists that 41-962 as a Platinum plug, and the 41-110 as a Iridium. So what does Chevrolet recommend now?
