I know its the Air injection system bank 2. I understand it could be the Air check valve..What does it look like, I see this round unit in line of the air line which is on the drivers side by the spark plug wires, and one more kind of in back of the engine on top but hard to get to. im not sure what they look like or correct location 98 A4 C5 :cry

Re: P1416 Code Help!! (Jerryk)
Thats the one...bank 2 is in the back. remove the intake manifold and you can get to it. most likely it no longer flows. it's no big deal. have fun!
Well, at any rate, check to make sure all your exhaust manifold bolts are tight before you do anything else.
I had this code show up a while ago, and while examining the area found a *very* loose exhaust manifold-to-head bolt (the most rearward one). Tightened it, erased the code, and the code has not returned in 4 months. One other CF member has reported good luck with the same solution. Go figure.
It may not be your problem, but it's an easy and quick first try, and it's free.

Since installing headers 3 weeks ago the code hasn't reappeared for me either.
