I watched a show a long time ago on MSNBC about Walmart. It was very interesting about what they make vendors do to sell their products in Walmart. They can tell a vendor to reduce their pricing/cost to continue selliing with them. They are the world's biggest retailer. Case in point. I was using Pennzoil Ultra from Walmart and suddenly it wasn't available anymore there. I called Pennzoil because I thought I read somewhere they weren't making it anymore. The rep assured me they were, but Walmart demanded they sell it at a reduced cost which was lower than Pennzoil could afford to, so they pulled it from their shelves, even though you could still buy other lines of Pennzoil oil. I believe it is possible Walmart could make AC produce a slightly lower quality filter to afford to be able to still them at Walmart. Personally all I use are NAPA Gold's anyway. One of the best filters you can buy, same as Wix racing filters. I would avoid K&N's, I have scraped the nut welded on the bottom.
The high milage oil suggestion stuff needs to be checked out. True, the zinc is reduced in standard Mobil 1, but is also replaced with other additives to preserve that performance area, and that are less harmful to the cats.
If I read the original , long ago oil post correctly, the thinking behind running the high mileage oil was that it was closer to the formulations used when the car was new. This reasoning implied the new formulation was inferior because of the lower zinc level, yet never mentioned the newer replacement additives. The concern was for high shear in extreme valve trains, not stock cars.
I figure they went to some trouble to simplify oil buying down to just looking for the Dextros label, but some guys want to end run around even that with their own ideas. They could be right, but I would call the Mobil 1 800 help line before I would take a less informed technical opinion.

The AC UPF 44 and The Mobil1 Oil Flters are manufactured by Champion. They also manufacture Walmart brand. I have personally cut open a Walmart filter and although cheaply constructed and lightly built, it would do the job. BUT are you interested in this type of filter in your rather expensive investment ?
Same with less expensive oil.
It's your call. Nothing but the best for my new one owner 99 6mm coupe with 148,000 miles. Runs like I stole it!
Good Luck !
I bought a Purolator Classic oil filter L14006 at Wal Mart ($3.27), in place of the Ac Delco oil filter I usually get.
Is the "classic" ok, or do I need the "one"?
The PureONE has slightly better filter media than the Classic. 99.9% efficient vs. 97.5%. They are both good filters though, and I would not hesitate to use the Classic on my vette or any other car. I prefer the PureONE though, because in addition to the better filtration, it has a nice grippy coating on the outside of the can.
I had 2 quarts of the regular Mobil 1 full synthetic oil left over, so I bought a 5 quart jug of the same, for this oil change, and next time will go for the high mileage one if it has better wear stuff.
By the way, my LS1 is still stock after all these years.
Never uses any oil, one of those quarts has been riding in the cubby hole in the trunk since 2005 I think, when I went on a road trip from Northern California to Texas and back, never ever had to add any, ist car I ever had that did not use even a little oil!
So, I'll use this, then next time go for the one with higher wear additives, I considered mixing the 2 quarts of what I have, with the new suggested one, but I thought that might not be good.
We used an Ac delco filter to battle test our LS1 engine mules to develop the first production engine in the world to bench mark at 200,000 miles. Its all I use. I would not use any other filter. AS far as extended oil, I would not use it. There is a Heat additive in the Mobil 1 synthetic which is very important to the lubricity under high heat and strees that is necessary in an LSX engine in a C5 . Castrol edge is also OK . I would never use a fram filter.

Are you saying to avoid the oil that goes for extra miles inbetween oil change intervals?
If so, I was never planning to use that one. However the kind designed for higher mileage engines for the added anti wear stuff.

Blend with confidence. There is no danger in mixing those oils.

There is a very good chance this is the case. One example I have is BBQ sauce...while not oil filters, it's the case in point. My favorite local BBQ sauce when I lived in Atlanta was Williamson Bros. If you buy their original sauce at say a Whole Foods or even one of their stores, take a look at the ingredients....SUGAR. If you buy it at Wally World? Take a look at the ingredients....HFCS. Yes, it's cheaper, but it's made with high fructose corn syrup, instead of real sugar. You want to sell it at Wally World? Sure, no problem...here is the price we need to have it at or go sell it somewhere else.

If you have a few minutes to spare, and want an interesting read, search "WalMart and the Snapper Mower Company". It's enlightening....
...The Fram Ultra is also an excellent filter ... the only Fram I'd use. It has full synthetic media and metal end caps, and it is rated for 15K oil change intervals. Very well made oil filter.
I know Fram is not very well regarded in general over here, but its Ultra line is in a total different league compared to the rest of their lineup:
Metal endcaps
Dual layer synthetic media
Wire mesh reinforcement as a 3rd layer behind media
