Default turn signals

My turn signals have started to work intermittently.(2001) nothing either way and then they will just start working normally. 4 way flashers work all the time. anyone had something like this? I feel it might be the switch / stalk.
Thanks,
Stu

common c 5 problem from what I have read. I had the hazard light switch replaced and it solved the problem in my '01.

Good suggestions. What is the flasher bypass?

There is nothing wrong with using a Hyperflash unit if your problem is actually the Flasher internal to the Hazard switch. It sounds like that is your problem. Just know there are several (5) other switches/contacts internal to the Hazard switch that are still used for the brake lights and turn signal even with the Hyperflash installed.

If it were me, I would replace the Hazard switch or install a Hyperflash unit first to see if that fixes your problem. I had a similar problem and replacing the Hazard switch fixed it. However, I did a Hazard switch relocation since I already had good access to do it for little effort. My approach retains the original dash appearance and was half the price of a Hyperflash unit. Here is what I did:

I had a similar problem; replaced the hazard flasher switch, and......no joy. I ultimately traced the problem to corrosion inside the turn signal bulb sockets. It wasn't the normal "greenish" colored corrosion, but more like rust on the metal contact strips in the sockets. I sanded them off and applied dielectric grease and, "Wha-La!!" They work!

There is actually 1 contact used for the right and left brake lights. If it fails, you get the center brake light only. The rest of the contacts are to make the hazards work. Those could all fail and you'd still get normal brake and signal functions.
