I'm totally new to headers and I need some help! I have an opportunity to buy a set of ZO6 headers from a fellow forum member and it would be attached to a Corsa X-Pipe/Indy exhaust system. Can someone please help with the following questions??
1. How are the ZO6 headers different than stock C5 headers?
2. Are there any potential problems with using ZO6 headers in a C5?
3. Will the ZO6 headers cause the car to fail the smog test in California?
4. How will the headers change the exhaust note?
5. How long is the install and who would I take it to (ie. muffler shop)?
6. How much more HP can I expect from the ZO6 headers?
Any other hints or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!
I could be wrong, but I didn't thing there was any difference whatsoever between LS1 and LS6 exhaust manifolds---which, if you are indeed talking about what came on the car stock, is what they are--those are not headers--
You would be gaining nothing by swapping stock manifolds---
So--I guess my question is--if you are actually talking about legitimate headers, like TPIS, TTS, FLP, etc.. are they long-tube, mid-length, shorties?
That is the info that will dictate the answers to your questions...
If you are talking about the stock exhaust manifolds, the '01 Z06 and the '02 Z06 may be different? The '01's have "pup" cats and the '02's don't. If it is an '01 and you are keeping the "pup" cats, you would see no difference. If it's the '02 and you remove the "pup" cats you are in violation of California emissions (but you should see some hp increase). If it's the '02 and you are keeping the "pup" cats you won't see any difference in power.
