How much trouble is it to install a set of long tubes on the LS6? Are the OE manifolds really that restrictive, and is the power gain worth the cost/trouble? I still have the OE head pipes w/ cat converters. Behind that I have a Corsa system that sounds really sweet. I'm looking to free up any existing exhaust restrictions, while keeping the sound from becoming stupid loud. Another board member suggested the long tubes and fabricating an X pipe in there somewhere. Who makes the best overall bang for the $ LT header?
Some guys have dropped them right in. Others have had to go to various lenghts to get them installed. They definitely will give you more HP and less restrictions, plus they will sound better. They won't be stupid loud, but there is a definite increase in volume, maybe 30% louder. If you do future mods like heads and cam or intake, the LT headers really start to shine because they definitely outperform the factory stock headers. Do you know any Vette owners near you? I'll bet many have installed LT headers and can let you actually listen to the difference. Also, there are a gazillion youtube clips of various makes and models. Just do the searching...
