Alright people listen up! :D I have a chance to replace my M6 with an M12 tranny. I know that with the exception of 4th (1:1) that the rest of the gears are lower ratio with the M12. However, I should be having an excess of 500 RWHP/RWTQ, will traction be too much of an issue if I switch to the lower geared M12? I should be able to pull longer with taller gears and maybe not wheelspin as much. Looking for some experience here or best guestimates based on performance not the mentality that its better because its on a Z06. Just am looking for some sound advice for choosing a system that will hook up.
Thanks!
Based upon experience with my dear, departed 610 RWHP Camaro, gearing becomes almost irrelevant when you get into the big numbers. If you're going to the track, the ability to finish the quarter at the top of a given gear (3rd or 4th) in the case of the T56 is more important than torque multiplication.
For what it's worth, on street radials, my F-body would blow the tires away at 60 in 3rd with a 3.73 gear. Traction will be a BIG issue.
