Just make sure that you use thus to torque the rocker arms.

BUT Don't use the ls1how to on the crank balancer to tighten it. You may strip the crank threads then your ****ed. Use the factory torque specs and new bolt. Follow that procedure not the one on the how to..

Installation procedure:

-if the balancer is not already on, it may help to heat it to about 150* or so, just prior to installing it. Some people put it in the oven, some put it in boiling water. When I did mine, I didn't heat it at all.

-once balancer is on the crank and as straight as possible, install the old bolt.

-tighten the old bolt to 240 ft lbs to seat the balancer.

-to check if it is seated properly, the end of the crank should be recessed in the balancer .094 - .176 inches (or 2.40 - 4.48 mm)

-once seated, install the new bolt and torque to 37 ft lbs.

-then, using a torque angle meter, tighten the bolt 140*. You can buy a cheap angle meter at any auto parts store for about $10.

-you're done.

You can make your own balancer thread tool for about 20 bucks so you can start getting the balancer is on once you have it seated in far enough use factory specs like above to seat it properly. If you want I can cut you a piece of the rod and send it your way just pay shipping and then just buy the nuts and washers. It will look like this. I just did mine..

It's a m16x2.0m

Also you want to rent the chrystler harmonic balance puller NOT the GM one. It wont work..Here is what it looks like.

One thing I run into was that my steering rack wouldn't come out, period.. I ended up needing to loosen the front cradle bolts just a little this along with some cussing let it slip out.

You don't need it to come out all the way just enough to where it is out of the way. I had the same issue but I just needed room to get to the balancer. I may have to try that when I do a cam swap

The LS3 is basically the same but might have a thrust bearing behind the timing sprocket. It has one bolt that mounts the sprocket to the cam and I don't have the torque spec for it but it shouldn't be hard to find.

I like the way http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125123 explains things. I actually just finished reading the ls1howto for the c5 cam swap. Doesnt mention the wodden dowels for the cam swap as he has the heads off for the write up.

Should a oil change be done right after first startup?

Thanks

I don't like all that assembly lube in the oil. I don't cake it all over the cam either. I just coat the lobes and bearing journals.

So your for the assembly lube...what kind? I was honestly just going to use the same oil i put in the motor.

My parts ill be here nxt week so i have time to buy the last minute stuff like assembly lube, oil pick up tube o-ring, AIR gaskets and still on the lookout for the chrystler dampner puller. If i dont find one ill try to use the pullers i own. None of them are specifically for cars but I might get lucky...

Assembly lube is thick like grease. It insures that during the first few seconds of operation that the wear surfaces don't run dry. I'm not that picky about brand on just a roller cam and you don't need a lot of it.

You need water pump gaskets.

The factory harmonic balancer is known to fail and most people here are not a big fan of the stock one. As hard as it is to replace, now is the time to consider up-grading it.

A search will show tons of results on which harmonic balancers.

There is an alignment tool for getting the front cover back on so that the front seal is centered with the drive shaft. I got mine here. http://www.saccitycorvette.com/AlignItTools.html

I ordered a kit from TSP...i have to check if it comes with the waterpump gasket.
I also gkt a Romac 25% underdrive harmonic balancer.

I started a thread with all the parts in case your interested at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...t-cam-package-

Im asking here because that thread kinda died and no more advice comming from it.

Thanks for the suggestions man!
