Parking lights, dash lights not working
A little backgroud first. I added a self dimming/compass rearview mirror to my 98 Vert. I had to run a wire to a switch wire under the dash for the compass on the mirror. When I was checking the wire for accessory power I must have hit another wire with the tester and the car started a dinging noise like the key was in the ignition when it wasn't. I'm assuming I crossed something but did not find anything. I put the car back together and didn't drive the car until later.
I went out the following night. I turned on the headlights and the headlights worked but the parking lights and dash lights didn't. I tracked down fuse 6 and it was bad. I replaceed it and turned on the parking lights....it blew again.
I took the MFS off the car and repaired it. I put it back on tonight and the headlights come on when the parking lights are turned on. Seems weird that the headlights are on when I only have turned the switch to the parking lights.
So, this is where I'm at now. I'm thinking a relay may be bad but I'm kind of stumped right now. Anyone have any suggestions?
