Default miss fire

While I was at my local strip running my car for the first time . The engine miss fired at about 6000rpms. Should I get a code? Did the rev limit shut the engine down? Would I get a code for this. I did change the rear from a 2.73 to 3.15. I have done nothing to the computer. What is going on here?

Thanks in advanced.

Sounds like you hit the rev limiter which is normal at a little past 6000 rpm. You should definitely have your computer updated to the current gears you are using as your speedometer will be off as will other computations measuring speed and distance. I wouldn't worry about hitting the rev limiter but don't make a practice of it especially if you are down shifting.Limiting the fuel at that point won't help as the car will mechanically rev up. I know guys who have bent pushrods doing that. Hitting the rev limiter during acceleration simply shuts down the fuel and this will feel like a misfire. You can bump the rev limiter up a few hundred rpm if you would like and recalibrate for your new gearset with a Hydrotech III or some similar device or have a shop with the right software do it for you.
