Default Header bolt size (to engine block)

I've looked and looked but can't seem to find the bolt specs. If any of you have the specs on hand it would be greatly appreciated!

Do you mean the manifold bolts that bolt the header to the cylinder head?

I dont want to turn this into a stud vs. bolt thread. But if are starting over just get the studs(ARP 434-1301), much better IMO. I can expain why they are better but just my 2 cents. If not it is a M8 diameter by I believe 1.75".

By all means, please do explain. I'll be dropping the headers and replacing the gaskets this weekend

By all means I am no rocket scientist so take this as my opinion, BUT- whenever you use a bolt in the head you are putting ALL of the stress and pressure on the head itself (threads of course) as you are bolting into the head. Whereas when you utilize a stud- you screw the stud into the head (by hand) and you are putting ALL of the pressure on the studs as you are screwing the nut into the bolt itself. On top of the torsion strengths yada yada, it makes it easier to thread the studs in, hang the gaskets, and install headers. Now it would be cheaper to just buy bolts or reuse bolts, BUT I figure if you are there might as well do it right, and if you are using expensive heads(like I am) whats an extra 30 bucks?

Studs it is! just put an order in. Mainly because mounting the headers on the studs will make things MUCH easier. Last time I had the headers off it was a pain in the a## to line them back up to get the bolts started
