Default Rear Tie Rod End

I have my suspension completely apart and I noticed a bad rear outter tie rod end boot.

Here are the pictures of the good on and bad one. What should I do?

You're going to need an alignment anyway when you put it back together, so I'd just go a head and replace both tie rod ends and be done with it.

Vette Brakes and Products - VBP - makes replacement boots for those. Their part number is 31530 and come in a package of two for about $15. I end up melting at least one set a year on the track. Be sure to clean any junk out of the joint and relube well before reinstalling.

If your car is really low mileage you might consider replacing only the boot as suggested. You'd want to clean it really well and repack with grease before installing the new boot.
My first choice would be to replace both tie rod ends. As was stated above, you'll already need to get an alignment when it all goes back together. I actually changed both of my fronts 2 weeks ago. My boots were shot and the joints were quite worn (car has 135k miles). First one took me almost 2 hours because I was overly cautious and careful during the replacement and the jacking up and blocking. Second one took me about 20 minutes. I took several measurements before taking it all apart and was able to get the alignment back to decent so that I could drive it until I could get it in the shop for the alignment.
Got my tie rod ends for less than $90 for the pair and they were OEM AC Delco parts. PM me and I'll be happy to let you know where I got them.
Good luck!!

Does anybody make heat shields for the rear tie rod ends? It's crazy how close they are to the rotors. I just replaced my rears and would like to keep from burning through the boots the first time back on the track... I have the Quantum duct kit on the front and it comes with a heat shield for the front tie rod end.

I'll keep the VBP kit in mind. Thanks for the tip.
