Squeaky belt EXCEPT when turning left !!!
My belt is squeaky at any RPMs, but the squeaks go away for fews seconds when I make a sharp left turn! I don't understand why.
First I thought that it was a pulley, and that turning left was making something move, thus stopping the noise. But the squeaky noise goes away when I spray water on the belt, until it dries out.
I tried to spray some belt conditionner (it gets worse), modify the tension of the belt... Nothing! It is really aggravating.
Does anybody have a clue why turning left makes the squeaks go away?
suppose you could add separating balancer to c5s that live in an area that's hard on rubber
once a belt glazes it's shot and really it's not a bad idea to replace both tensioners and both idle pulleys, then wash all the surfaces the belts touch with a mix of purple power or simple green and some dish soap, rinse, brush the grooves with a wire brush and make sure no bits of crap are in the pulleys, dry, install the new belt and be done with it

Even though belt may “look good”, you may want to make sure it is not worn, and to check the belt, you will need a gauge, see below which can be had at many auto parts stores as a “freebee”…
Gates has a great Serpentine Belt Diagnostics chart with a freebee gauge.

Dayco has great info also.
