When I sit in my driveway and pump the clutch 50-100 times it doesn't change from clear at all. But as soon as I take a 10 min ride up the street and back the fluid is pitch black again. Does having the cap on or off have anything to do with it? Or does the engine have to running? Just baffled as I would like to spend all day to finally get it clear without having to keep taking short trips. Thanks

It doesn't take much clutch dust to blacked clear fluid. There is a better way.
You can make a turkey baster with a 1/8th tube. that will fit down into the hole in the bottom of the clutch fluid reservoir. You can insert the 1/8th tube into that hole and flush the system by injecting clear fluid right down into that hole . it will force all the clutch dust up into the reservoir bowl. then you can suck out that dirty fluid and fill with clean fluid. then flush the system again using the turkey baster filled with clean fluid. it take about three flushes to clean and remove contaminated fluid. and there is no need to pump the clutch. Just be careful with the fluid and the paint.
Engine running should have no effect on bleed process. I always do mine with the cap on the MC since fluid tends to squirt out sometimes. Are you pumping the pedal fast or slowly ? I do mine at a slower speed - 2 seconds down and 2 seconds back up. That speed seems to work fine for me. Make sure you are on level ground when you do the bleed.
Thanks for the 1/8tube tip. I'm assuming that's O.D. to fit in that tiny hole. And how long of a tube do you want enough to reach the slave? Or just enough to get beyond the reservoir? To answer CHJ im not pumping that fast but not as slow as you suggest. Thanks everyone.

I use about 4 inches of 1/8 tube it will amaze you as to how it flushes all that back dust out of the system.
Yeah, you can't get the tube past the master cylinder plunger; it only opens a few thousands of an inch when the pedal is released. You'll still have the dirty fluid in the lower pipe and the slave, but the more you get out of the upper pipe and master cylinder the better. Gotta just keep changing and pumping on a routine basis for a few months, and it'll start to show better results. Or, you could crawl under and try to bleed it once at the bellhousing; then do the pump method routinely.
I got a 60cc syringe & clear IV tubing from the local pharmacy that worked pretty good too. It seems like I fed about 8" of tubing into the hole & was able to get a fairly powerful flush with the syringe plunger. The syringe & tubing are super cheap ($5 or $6) & work well.
I got a hard (not solid) 1/8 vaccumn line from pepboys and hooked that up to my turkey baster. Was able to get a good foot down in there and pressed a lot of crap out. However I still have the same situation pumping the clutch does nothing. However I didn't drive but checked in the morning and it was black but that rubber thing on the cap has been cleaned off but im wandering if that is where the color is coming from. Or is there a tiny leak between the master and the line to the slave and some black fluid is seeping through.
