I've been reading up on here and see where the gm rr's have been known to be problematic and was wondering about swapping them for say some Harland sharps?I run sharps on my 5.0's and absolutely love them but I'm new to gm and the Ls1 what do you guys think about them on this engine? what's involved with swapping a set out?is this just a simple bolt on or does it require shimming and such?
Also on the sbf's a popular thing used to be to run a set of 1.7's in place of the stock 1.6's when using the stock or mild cams to get a little more from them. does this also apply to the Ls1?sorry if this sounds dumb but I'm a ford guy and I know what may work for one engine may not necessarily work for another and just want to be sure.
I have never ran rr's on my ls1, but did do some research on it, you can get some 1.7 rr's made specifically for the ls1 from SLP. like 5 bills for the set, I think. I also think I ran across an article in Chevy High Performance Magazine website where they did this and it messed with the knock sensor, and they made it less sensitive with a computer. Cant remember, but do a search "installing roller rockers in an ls1", you'll find out what you need to know.

That's a good video, but as you can see, it's a little tricky when using a vise. In some respects, you could use a third hand, to hold everything in place, when pressing in the trunnion and second bearing.
I was fortunate enough to score a small arbor press, when my former employer was having a "garage sale", and it made the job very easy. The one thing you need to remember is that this isn't a brute force job. All it takes is a little finesse....
Good video, Comp has a video also. I used a drill press, worked out very well. 3/8 extension locked into the drill chuck with the socket on it. Easier to align when sitting vertical. Used assembly lube on everything when installing. Good luck .
The stock rockers upgraded with the comp cams trunions work great and are simple to do. they are a little time consuming but the best part about the stock rockers is that there is no lash setting. torque to manufacturer specs (26ftlbs??) and roll with it.
