I have a 1998 6spd C5 Targa with a hurst pro shifter borla catback, halltech cai so far but im stock piling parts to mod it over the winter.
So far ive got the obx long tube and mid pipe kit, holley ls1 lingenfelter intake,i just ordered the trunion upgrade, and then i plan to send the computer off to be tuned.
But i seen this and wondered if this was worth my time to do or if i should leave well enough alone http://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-CHEVY-BILLET-ALUMINUM-LS1-LT4-LT1-MASS-AIR-HIGH-FLOW-PORTED-MAF-ENDS-BLACK-/310392358453?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4844d38635&vxp=mtr

You'll get a bigger performance gain if you paint your car red.
The only way to measure engine hp requires that the engine first be pulled from the car and placed on a stand. No one ever does that. Besides, the power potential you really are interested in is that which is being put to work - measured at the rear wheels. So we all use a rule-of-thumb to approximate the engine hp that equates dyno-measured to rwhp. For a 6spd, you can take your rwhp and divide it by 0.85 (or multiply the rwhp by 1.17).
My guess...before adding the LT headers, etc., your car should dyno around 310 - 330 rwhp. Add the LT headers and you will pick up around 25-30 rwhp.
Good luck, and have fun doing this over the winter months.
Yea I read up on the plastic/cast aluminum intake debate.
For what I'm seeing a stock Ls6 intake going for Id rather save a few bucks and have the lingenfelter.which brings My to my next question why in the hell is a stock plastic intake going for more than a well known performance intake from a well known tuner?seems that most or all of the bbk volley and lingenfelter intakes I see are in the 500$ range.I just seen an ls6 on eBay the other day for over 700$!!!!why!?!?!?!

Like anything else, you HAVE to shop around. There are always (and always WILL be) people looking to scalp you if you don't take the time to shop and compare. I bet if I looked hard enough, I could probably fine someone "selling" these BBK pieces for huge prices too.
Yeah, those aluminum intake manifolds are kind of last century. Your next step after headers would be an aftermarket cam, and attendant parts. Big gains for the money.
