Default Going to head studs, what Torque to use?

I did some searching and didn't find a answer. When I do this head /cam swap, I have a set of head studs to install, just wondering what do the nuts torque to and is there a procedure to use. I know the torque arrangement, just wondering if several passes increasing torque to the final value is suggested. If anyone has a suggested procedure I'd appreciate the info. Thanks

If you are using ARP studs and have the stud kit number, you can look up the TQ instructions on their web site. just make sure you get the correct instructions as there are two stud kits.

If the studs you have are NOT ARP, I would not recommend using ARP instructions as you may damage the block or have incorrect TQ

Cheers,
Goose

My new studs are not ARP. I have to ask this, how could using ARP's torque values on my studs damage the block? I assume your considering my studs will/might not stand the ARP's torque?

I used ARP when I swapped in heads/cam years ago. Torque value on ARP's using their proprietary assembly lube on an LS1/6 is 80 lbs. ft. for the stud nuts and 25 lbs. ft. for the bolts. You need to use the factory tightening pattern with three progressive passes to hit the spec. I used 25, 50 and 80 lbs. ft.

You should contact the manufacturer of your head studs and check what they recommend for the brand you bought.
