sounds like diesel engine?
I was talking to a friend today who has a 2002 C5. He said his engine sounds like a diesel when he starts it cold (like after sitting overnight). He said it does this for a few minutes until the engine gets warmed up real good and then stops. He said he took it to a couple dealers and they said GM is aware of the problem and is working on a solution. Anybody know anything about this? I told him I would post this on the forum and see if I could get some information. His car has about 27K miles and he said the problem started at about 7K.

I don't know about this particular case, but some people have reported "piston slap" when the engine is cold. A new piston (I think with a longer skirt) and new rings are the fix that GM is doing. There may a TSB on it. Could it be the "audible spark knock" problem some have? :confused: Good luck.
