Transmission not shifting

Transmission not shifting
MY 1998 C5 won't shift out of 2nd and rpms are higher than usual during acceleration. can anyone help??

check for low transmission fluid and check for any codes. Unfortunately, your transmission may be on its way out though.

I forgot to mention there is a bit of smoke coming from the rear of the motor

That might be an oil leak. However, the transmission is in the rear of a C5 so you might have two issues.
