Default Obd code po430 ?

Oxygen sensor past the cat on bank 2 says the cat nots working. Could this be a bad sensor or do i need to replace the cat. Which side is bank 2. Bad timing for me because i need to get a smog this week. Many different converters for sale, what's the right one?

you could swap the L and R sensors and see if it follows the sensor of the bank. then you can tell if its a sensor or a Cat. Magnaflow makes good cats.. if your going to do 1 you should also do the other, not only for emissions but for ballancing exhaust pressure. Delco sensors are what i would use.. RockAuto is a good place for sensors and they have 5% discound codes if you google.

Don't deleted-by-tune sensors show up as "Not Ready" in emissions tests? Also, if it is a bad cat and the sensors are tuned out and they do the sniffer where the OP gets his car tested, he'll fail. Better to fix the issue before you roll in for the test.

Allot of the issues for CATs and O2 sensors failing is that the car isn't driven long enough to burn the crap out. Same issue with an older version vette and I let it sit idling which gets the CATs very hot and will usually burn up anything that's may be giving you the code. Just don't idle the car on grass, may cause a fire and that would not be good.

no he wont fail with a tune, they don't do sniffer tests anymore. its all visual and plug-in OBD even in cali. get a tune and if you feel bad about the environment get high flow cats.

no emissions equipment at all on mine and I passed MD emissions no problem.

Each State has a different E-test requirements. If the exhaust is clean you can still get a P0420/P0430 from high flow cats. The tune turns off the reporting of the failure so the etest machine will not report codes. Colorado DOES infact have a Sniffer test.. AND they are a load test with the dyno. I have small round Magnaflow cats on my vette with my LS7 exhaust and it passes sniff and OBDII test (rear sensors tuned out).

If your cat is failing Might be a good oppertunity to find some LS7 exhaust and "Fix" while "UPgrading" at the same time. Will want a tune after. or just get some good high flow cats and call it a day.

Because I live in Cali now, and because I am trying to go the emissions compliant route with all my latest mods, I recently switched over to the LS7 exhaust system and am selling my awesome header/cutout setup.

Here are the threads:

Default Burning the cat clean.

The car almost never hits the highway and proper operating temp. As sugested i ran it in the drive for 45 min to heat the cat up. I deleted the code and check engine icon. Ready to hit the highway to see if it worked. How many miles are nessary to see if the code comes back.

Default By god it worked!

We had a clogged cat and sensor signal. We idled the car in the drive for half an hour and cleared the warning light. I hit the highway for 40 miles and it's still clear, thank you guys.
