Yes it can be done with the clutch in the car...
The only thing is that the clutch really should be bled completely and replaced with a very high quality fluid. I used ATE Super Blue Racing fluid

Yep Mike..
So far so good.. It's not perfect.... But at least the pedal does not stay on the floor.
After a really hard run it feels a little grabby...but the pedal always comes up..

I did the mod on my 01 and it did nothing. Pedal still stuck to the floor.
I put an 02 Z06 clutch in and the problem went away. According to the tech the pedal stinking has nothing to do with the M/C line and everything to do with the self adjusting springs on the PP.
However, for piece of mind, I am glad I have the modded M/C line.
