I have just installed new rotors(Baer),Z06 calipers,Hawk pads and brake lines.(300 miles on them) Everything seemed fine until I have developed a snapping or cracking noise when stopping the car.I only notice this at slow speeds really only when I am backing or pulling out of the garage or in to a parking place. I replaced all the hardware (spring clips or anti rattle pieces) today thinging the pads were slipping around but this did not help.Any ideas on what is wrong? It sounds like the noise is coming from the right rear. Thank's for any help!
I would check all your torque settings once again and make sure that they are within specifications... If they seem to be OK you might want to check out your wheel bearings for they can make a similar noise if faulty... I don't want to be an alarmist but it just would be prudent to do so IMHO...
Before you installed your new calipers, did you check to see if they slide freely relative to the caliper bracket pins? If they are not lubed properly and are binding, I could see this as one source of the noise. Also, the bolts that hold the brackets to the calipers need to be torqued to 30 ft.lbs.
Nick and Ed! Thank's for the repley's. I will double check the torque setting's. Ed I had a shop do the work and I don't know about bracket pin's sliding freely or the lube. This guy said he's done alot of work on C5 's (brakes) but I'm beginning to wonder! Thank's again! Ed do you have any pictures showing these pin's and where the lube should be I guess I will give this a try myself.
