My C5 is about 18 months old and has 14000 miles. I am disappointed to see that my tires are seriously worn, but fairly even. I run about 28 psi all the time. They look alot like my friend's 98 with 30k+ miles on his. I don't drive hard, except at the four autocrosses I have attended. But even then, I don't do burnouts or squeal tires.
Is anyone else experiencing so few miles from there Goodyears? Could there have been something wrong with them from the factory?
Hard to provide an exact answer since there are so many variables. Some folks have gotten over 40K on the EMT's while other's were lucky to get 10K. I have 17K and they were just measured at 5/32nd's (new is 11/32nd's).
I just replaced the rear tires at 40000 miles.I keep 32lbs. in the front and rear.I don't know if this is the reason I got such good mileage off the tires but I am doing the same air pressure as I did with the original tires.Another thing I did,was balance the tires every 10000 miles. My friend owns a tire shop and he balanaced them at a very reasonable price,so I just do it. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy
I just put Nitto 555's on last night, replaced the my EMT's at 44,000 miles! Of course, I had cords showing on the front tires. (I don't recommend this!)
I got 26k out of them. The fronts could've gone another 5-7k more but the car was getting too slippery for my taste, especially on wet roads.
The previous owner of my car replaced them at 43,xxx miles. She must have driven it very gently (of course, I get 26mpg city and 32 highway, so I must be driving it very gently too!).
30+k miles... fronts look like new but backs have started to show wear in the center. Your tires will last longer if run at a higher pressure in most cases... mine are normally 32psi cold. I drive a fair about on the highway.

Re: Mileage from EMTs (RacerChris)
Just replaced the front and rear OEM tires with Goodyear Supercar tires. Sold the fronts, and they still had about 7.5/32nds of tread left on them after about 13,500 miles. The rears were getting pretty thin. This was with normal driving (i.e., no track time, no autocrossing, etc.).
Was hoping they would get better mileage out of them.
At 9,000 miles my 2001 has 5/32nd on the rear and 8/32nd on the front at 30psi. I believe this may be due to hard acceleration that didn't induce traction control but allowed a small amount of wheelspin many times over. You can believe I am much gentler now on the accelerator since it's hard to feel/hear the wheelspin. It never mattered before with my other cars but these EMT's are not tossaways at over $300 a pop. Raul
