Mine locked up yesterday morning and has been at the Dealer since yesterday. Does anyone know how long it really takes to do this repair? Weekend is here and would really like to have my car.
Thanks for the info.. just got off the phone and it is now being worked on. Think they are tired of me calling them. I just hate to be lied to, they told me it would be ready today and all I want is for them to do what they said.
Only took 2 hours for the tow truck to pick it up so guess I should not expect much better from the dealer.

I was told it would be ready the same afternoon. 36 hours later, they had not looked at it yet. When they did, they told me the column wasn't even locked! It still took them a week just to perform the recall. And this was the 5th dealer I had called to try to find someone to fix it imediately. I am not a big fan of Chevy's service...
I am not a big fan of Chevy service either. I had the car at the same dealership a couple months ago to thave the head light motor replaced. Took it in that morning and was ready right after lunch. So I made a mistake and assumed that was the way they do business. I even called GM and got the same story nothing they can do to help.
The recall pays the tech .8 hours for an A4 car and 1.2 hours for a M6 car...After a tech has done about 50,thats how long it takes to do the recall ;)
Mine locked up in my garage about the middle of a week day morning a little over a year ago. I immediately called the dealer, they sent a flatbed, got it out of the garage, loaded and on the way. I had the car back about 4:30 P.M. that same afternoon, correctly repaired with the GM "fix". It doesn't take long to repair.
Thanks for the info, car is still at Dealer they called and said they did not have enough time to get it in. So that blows a weekend. I told the service advisor that he told me it would be ready on Friday and that is why I sent it to that dealership. If it was not going to be ready why wait until 4:00pm on Friday to tell me? There are like only 20 Dealerships in the DFW area so this is not the only one I could of taken it to. Guess I will just have to get use to being lied to by service Depts.
I even called the GM customer service number, their reply is well if it is not ready by Monday to call back and they would then get involved. I told her that it did not matter if it was ready on Monday that I needed it for the weekend and if it is not going to be ready today then I could care less if it is ready on Monday.
Lots of customer service going around at GM. :reddevil
