Chips adding hp
First, welcome to the forum!
Second, I'd suggest that you take some time to read the "FAQ's" and visit the "Scan & Tune" section of the forum, there's lots of info there.
Third, our cars don't use "chips," they use a whole computer(!) and yes, modifications (tuning) the computer makes a HUUUUGE difference!
Best regards,
KoreaJon
ECS and Chuck COW are both popular tunes that are somwhat "Generic" tunes (I use generic lightly) that are a good basic starting point for a tune. to maximize your tune you will want to have a reputable tuner do a dyno tune for your specific car and mods. the tune should not cause any engine codes... depending on mods it will actually turn off codes depending on what mods you have done.
Tunes are a worth while upgrade but i would say it would not be the 1ST upgrade i would do... I would do maintenence and then Intake/exhaust then a tune.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Hey there Jeff....
Looks like you're less than an hour from me. No matter if you have lots of mods or no mods, a tune is the BEST
money you can spend hands down.
Don't let anyone tell you it's not worth it without mods because there is NO BETTER BANG FOR THE BUCK
than getting a first rate tune when you have no other modifications.
Sure having the RIGHT cold air intake helps (VARARAM! hands down) and an exhaust will do you right,
but again....Comparing the cost vs. benefit of any mods vs. the TUNE... The tune always wins.
If you've got an automatic car then the benefits are double.

Call me any time and I'd be happy to go over your options.
Remember that "inexpensive" mail order tunes DON'T install themselves...You need equipment
to install and datalog the "inexpensive" tunes and when you're done, you would be better off spending a few hours
at our shop for a first class tune done in person.
Call me any time at 914-332-0049 if you want to know more.
Stay TUNED!
Chuck CoW
