Front Transmission Pump Seal Leaking...
I took my 97 Vette to a local transmission shop to get the transmission fluid changed today. It currently has 87,003 miles on it. They told me I have transmission fluid leaking from the Front Pump Seal area. They quoted me $950 for parts and labor to fix it. According to them, it's not leaking enough that it has to be fixed right away. I'm wondering if I could get away with checking the fluid annually and adding whats necessary? If not, I have access to a lift. How hard would it be to replace the front pump seal and/or bushing on my own? Thanks.

I think the auto trans fill is like the old manual trans fillup, remove plug and fill till it runs out. Do a search on the procedure, my car is a 6 speed but I thought i read the auto fill is this way.

I'm aware of the fill procedure but I'm looking for the procedure to replace the seal and bushing.

You probably want to get the service manual, 1/2 the car has to come apart just to get the trans OUT. Usually the pump is directly behind the converter but it would still be worth it to have the manual(s). There pretty cheap anymore.
