Default Dual alternators?

I searched here and the audio forum, but I didn't see a post about a dual alternator setup. I have some higher powered electronics while the stock Valero alternator and my Odyssey does pretty good I feel there's room for improvement

Sooo, I thought about dual alternators. So far I've found this kit mostly for LS1 powered trucks from a company in Australia but I believe it will fit and put the 2nd alternator where a supercharger would be.

Any audio nuts do this? My thought is the 2nd alternator may play havoc with the voltage regulator system, similar to how aftermarket alternators don't replace well but I'm sure this can be overcome.

The belt runs further forward from the engine on a truck so you'd have to figure out how to move the alternator back with those brackets. The good thing is those brackets appear to have spacers already so you'd likely just have to shorten them and get shorter bolts. This link shows routing and the harmonic balancers so you can see the difference.

Don't worry about the charging system being compatible. The second alternator would not tie into the PCM like the stock one does. You use an alternator that just needs a charging indicator light or a resistor connected to it.

Awesome, you guys know your stuff. Anyway, perhaps I should start with a higher amp alternator first- Nations Electric has 260 and 275 amp alternators made from Valeo alternators that they guarantee "Is compatible with the Corvette computer for worry free, NO trouble code installation."

The dual alternator kit is $600, the same price of the Nations Alternator.
This way I can leave the other side free for a supercharger

It should work then. I find it hard to believe they can take the same case size and boost the current that much without any negatives, such as shorter alternator life.

I went with this unit. Although they were backed up when I ordered it, and it did take a while (4 weeks) to get here, I can say that it throws no codes and charges extremely well. Haven't installed the electronics to really tax it yet but it should be fine.

Good stuff. I just have a feeling my alternator may go kablewey sometime soon- almost 200k. We'll see but I want to be prepared when it's time to be replaced. The DCPower unit looks like a good contender too. I wonder if either are serviceable...
