I have an electrical whine kind of sound coming from the rear driver side area of my car. All I can figure is that it is my fuel pump. I had my car dyno tuned back in the summer and noticed the sound right after the tune and cannot recall hearing the sound prior to getting the tune (at least not nearly as loud). If it is my fuel pump does that mean it is failing? AS for the tune it was a basic street tune nothing too aggressive because my only mods are intake/exhaust.
Tune will not change the flow or sound of the pump. Did you have a Boost-A-Pump added, that might make it run more if you did (adds a better power supply to the pump). But most likely the 2 are not related. GM pumps Humm.. I can hear the pumps on trucks while next to them at a stop light.. thought it was allways strange but its all good. unless your having drivability issues i wouldnt worry about it.

No boost-a pump added. There is no drive ability issues and it's running great so I won't worry about it. Just wondering if I needed to be making preparations to have a new one installed.
Probably nothing to be overly concerned about unless it continues to get louder or you start having drivability issues.
One piece of info about the 03 C5's is that GM switched to the FSS fuel system mid year. VIN's with the last 6 digits greater than 111542 have the FFS fuel system. That system is a bit more expensive to replace the fuel pump in. On earlier cars it is possible to swap a pump out without dropping the exhaust system and fuel tanks. On FSS fuel systems that changed. You have no choice but to take a lot more apart to gain access to the fuel pump which translates to more $$$.
Thanks for the info. I searched my Vin awhile back and determined my car was an earlier production I believe. I do know it was one of the 03's where the fuel filter is not located inside the fuel tank.
