I have heard that replacing the stock LS1 intake with the LS6 intake will provide some gains. Does anyone know if the LS6 intake will bolt on to an early LS1 without modifications or adapters? What is the GM part # for the LS6 intake?

There are coolant pipes on early LS1s that run under the intake manifold. With the 2001 intake, there is no room for them. GM decided to block them off on the later cars, so it shouldn't hurt to do the same yourself.
You can get the whole kit (intake manifold, crossover coolan pipe for front lines, and two coolant block of plugs) for $399 plus $21 shipping and handling from SLP.
You will not see a big increase in horsepower just going to an LS6 manifold on a stock engine(maybe between 5-10 RWHP). You will see a bigger difference on a heads and cam car.
