Did i wait so long to go out and buy one! This is the best mod to date on my car. The whole transmission feels so solid now! It took me 2 hrs start to finish. With a delay to get some vise grips to get that danm Demon Key outta the shifter to take off the ****. But i didnt feel that it was too hard to shift the tension feels perfect to me. The distance between the gears is mind boggleing. 1-2 shift feels like there and inch apart not the row your boat shift with the stocker!
And after a few 0-100 blasts the 2-3 shift is so awsome. Powershifting this sucker is a breeze!!! If your on the border on this mod come on over and join the real racers with Hursts!!!!!!!!
Side note Exit28 motorsports made my weekend thanks again Tracy! I will always order parts from yall service is hands down the greatest!! :seeya
Hurst shifters are good. I really like mine. It's one of those things you asked why didn't GM make the stock shifter like the Hurst? Anyways, definitely one of the best mods for the buck.

As much as I love my Hurst, I realize that it takes good effort to shift. My Mother could barely put it into gear. She loves sports cars(she has a 98 M3) Lots of Women buy these cars. The stock shifter is still fun and will be appealing to most drivers. I use the stiffest springs on my Hurst and love it.But like I said,It takes good effort.
I've had the Hurst, Kirban, Ripper and shortened (1") stock shifters in my car. Overall I like the Hurst...it has the best of all features. The effort to shift is a simple ratio of the upper arm to the lower arm. The Ripper comes in at 2.00:1, making it the hardest to shift, The Hurst comes in at 2.40:1, the Kirban is 2.70:1 ( mostly because of the 3/4" longer upper arm) and a 1" shortened stock shifter at 4.50:1....making it the easiest to shift...but with 30% longer and looser shifts. The Hurst, Ripper and 1" shortened stock shifter sit at about the same height....the Kirban is 3/4" higher. The Kirban has it's upper arm bolted th the side of the lower unit.....this puts the upper shift arm considerably off center. The other shifters have a solid shaft and look centered in boot. I machined/welded and shortened by 3/4" the Kirban to be a solid/centered shaft and it's now the same height as the other three.....I will post pics on this mod as soon as I shoot them. This mod to the Kirban makes it feel very close to the Hurst.
I am really close to ordering the Hurst, after many a missed 2-3 shift and the occasional missed 5-6. The only thing keeping me from ordering is the posts regarding noise and rattling a few days after installation. Anyone find the culprit or a good solution? Is there a vendor that has the Hurst in stock? I know these things sell like hotcakes.
ENJOY that shifter! You will wonder how you enjoyed the car without it!
6spdNavy99,
You will love the shifter once you get them installed on the car. We have a ton of these Hurst shifters in stock in case you would like to order one and need it fast!
High RPM your sig says Ripper (I thought you switched to the Hurst), what are you usuing now since you've tried all but the Breathless?
I have tried the Ripper and currently using the Kirban, thought I might want to try the Hurst.
Thanks for your technical review!
Really is an awesome shifter. We installed one on an 02 Z06 the other day. The guy came back in 5 minutes with the biggest grin on his face and he just could not say enough about them!!!
We still have a pile of them in stock and more on the way. Give us a chance and we can give you an AWESOME price. :yesnod:

My starts to rattle at ~50 power... I suspect my **** is not as firmly secured to the shifter as it could be.
Sorry 'bout that.....just changed my sig to the Hurst. The Hurst is smooth, solid shifting and very quiet...... make sure you use the rubber cover and cup that comes with the car....without them any shifter is noisy. I used each of the four for at least one month......anyone want to buy my Ripper? $125 includes shipping.
This is a must do mod just mine put in sat. I was on the fence about a shifter and heard all good things about the Hurst.I really really like mine it should have came from the factory with it. :yesnod: :D
Almost everyone who puts the factory shif **** back on has a problem with rattling. I use both a modified Hurst "T" handle (for racing) and a polished aluminum **** with the engraved shift pattern from Corvette Central and neither of then exhibited any rattling sounds. I also took some foam packing material from a computer disk drive container and cut it to fit the area under the rubber floor seal with a hole for the shift lever. Insulates all noise from the tranny. You will need to turn the collar on the floor seal inside out so it doesn't push on the gold portion of the shifter.
What noise and vibration? I installed a Ken King (vetteessentials.com) **** and boot after installing mine, haven't heard any of the noise some have talked about.
No need to sit on the fence for this one -- GET IT! This is the shiifter that should have been STOCK on these cars.
Chris, I may go that way with you. Had my shifter (Ripper) lock up in Austin and had to tow the car home. Problem may not be the shifter though so I'm having that checked out first then would like to get the feel of someone's car in Houston before I switch ovah.
