Just sharing something I found out today. My car only came with one FOB. Before I realized there was a #1 and #2 FOB I found one on Amazon and ordered it. After reading a little, I found out there is an imprint on the back "1" or "2" and supposedly these were related to which memory setting the car used while unlocking with that given FOB. i.e. FOB 1 would set seat/wheel for memory position one and FOB 2 would set seat/wheel for memory position two.
Turns out it doesn't seem to matter. I went ahead and programmed the new FOB. During training the DIC asked me to press/hold lock/unlock for FOB 1 (which I did) then for FOB 2 (which I did). Each FOB now restores seat/wheel settings for memory setting one and two.
If you're wondering why the hell this matters: When I realized I ordered another #1 FOB and went to look for a #2 FOB, all the #2 FOBs were more expensive (sometimes double).
So bottom line, you don't have to have a #1 and #2 imprint on the back of the FOB. Mine both say #1 and both control different memory settings.
Just an observation. Hope it helps save some money.
Good deal, same experience here. I just programmed mine, there is no # on the back and works the same as a "#2". Its all silly anyways since ive never seen 2 identical key chains in my entire life, especially vs hers lol. ...and she aint driven it anyways!
I only have one FOB, too, but I'm the only one driving the car with any regularity. But... after programming in the settings I like, the car just goes ahead and does whatever it wants. Sometimes it does my settings and sometimes it does whatever it was set to before and sometimes it just does weird stuff like moving the seat way forward when I take the key out of the ignition or put it in the ignition. Only time it stays put somewhat reliably is when I don't lock the car.
