Default Dreaded C1233 H C code....Help appreciated..

A month ago I got the dreaded C1233 H C code when I was at the drag strip. I have gotten the Active handling/ABS fault lights on before at the strip when the car wheel hopped, but they always cleared.... Well now its not clearing.

So today I checked the resistance on the RF wheel sensor and it was 1043 ohms, right in the middle of the correct range. Then I cleaned the connections on the jumper wire and they were good. I also tested continuity on both sides of the jumper wire and it tested good.

So I assume either the RF wheel sensor is just dead or its a problem with the ABS module.

I'm not very knowledgeable on this stuff so looking for tips before I give up and take it to the dealer.

Its an 02 Z06 with 32k miles. C1233 is the only code I have thrown.

Any other tests I can do to quanify that I have an ABS module issue?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Review this Thread and see if it helps. Not at home with my FSM and other info.

You may want to do some other searches also to see if there are any other suggestions.

You might have an intermittent open circuit in the harness to the sensor. It would be a little surprising at 32,000 miles. If you have access to a scanner you can graph the 2 fronts and drive the car. Look for spikes or drop outs. The readings should mirror except for slow turns.
You could also disconnect the ebcm and ohm the sensor thru the harness. Set the meter on audible. You should hear a solid tone. Shake, wiggle, manipulate the harness where it goes thru the suspension. That's where the break. If you find it the sound will stutter or stop. If not, change the hub. GM makes repair harnesses you can splice in.
If you have time and don't want to test, replace the hub assembly and see if the code resets.

You can use a multimeter to test the output of the wheel speed sensor. It is an AC voltage and should be around 1 volt. It will get higher as you spin the hub faster... If you see voltage coming from the sensor, it is working and the problem is in the wiring or connector. If it were the EBCM that was bad I would expect more than just the code for 1 sensor being bad.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I seperated the connectors and cleaned them, checked continuity thru the jumper harness and measured 1043 ohms of resistance across the wheel sensor. I did not try bending the prongs on the connectors for better contact tho.

I suppose I can separate the jumper harness from the main harness side and measure resistance of the sensor again, if I get similar resistance numbers, I'll know the connections are good at the sensor/jumper connector. I guess I'll have to experiment some more. I was just hoping it was not the ebcm or the hub.

I can't believe all of these issues with a car with only 32k miles. ABS/TC is just one of the items on my list of crap to fix.

Update...

I found the problem. I had two broken wires between the jumper harness and the brake module.. Apparently when I broke a blower belt a while back, it apparently whipped through the bottom of the cradle and slapped the wiring harness, ripping it in two...... Spliced the wires back together and its all back to normal..

Thanks for the help fellas!

Now I have to chase a charging issue at idle.... If its not one thing, its another.
