Default C5 lower control arm stop

I don't know how to look this up because I don't know what the part is called. I don't recognize it on a schematic of the front suspension on the C5 but I'm probably missing it.

I had my car lowered awhile back and put it back up the other day. Under the adjustment stud/bolt is what I'd call a stop plate/rubber stop that was badly deformed. It appears to have two circular metal plates about the size of a 50ct piece engulfed in rubber which also sandwiches the plates.

Here is a link to the page where I think it lives:

http://www.gmpartseast.com/chevy/com...m321yy37.htmlI removed it since it appears to not be doing much in its present state and would like to replace it with new ones.

What the heck is it called and is it available? Thanks.

It's not available. All you can do is either get a piece of rubber and stick it in there or buy aftermarket lowering bolts. Bad part is the bushings parts on the aftermarket lowering bolts don't last long either.

I doubt anything lasts too long as they are compressed anyway. Is there a problem with using nothing? I worry it will hit the lower control arm and eventually crack or fracture it. Is that something to consider? Is there anything say like a piece of sidewall that can be or should be used?

Well, it is the spring bolt and the end of it absent the rubber is the spring bolt plate. You can buy a bushing to put over the spring bolt plate.

The steel end of the bolt will rub against the a-arm and you get loud squeaks when you go over bumps. Any piece of rubber in between will fix it. I've never seen a bushing sold to go over the end of that bolt.

It's not a bump stop. That bolt in the spring pushing down on the a-arm is what holds the front of the car up. So, no chance it will hit the arm since it's always pressing on the arm.

You're right. Not a bump stop because the car rides on it and compresses it. I suppose a piece of sidewall will do. They make aftermarket stuff like Eibach. The problem is you have to do a little disassembly and I'd prefer not to dismount the wheels. You can't buy just the bushing but the entire kit. I think I'll look into putting a bit of rubber under it. Thanks.

Sometimes in the for sale section you can find used lowering bolts in good shape. Not too hard to replace actually
