I just bought a 2001 C5 about a month ago. Periodically, the Left Rear TPMS was showing XXX. The place where I bought the car from (while looking at another small issue) said the sensor was bad. They gave me a new one to have my personal mechanic replace (they were too busy to do it). While driving home tonight, I noticed that all 4 TPMS were reading XXX. Is this a major problem? Thanks.
Yes, mine just did. I have one that works. As long as I am not getting the annoying low pressure warning to reset at every start-up, I really don't care. Next time I replace the tires I will do the sensors as well. But, what is LR?
Well they all have the same batteries and same hardware and have seen the exact same duty cycles so yeah, it does stand to reason that they'll all die around the same time.
Typical life is ~10 years. You got 13 out of yours. It is time.

Turns out, it was just one bad sensor. It ended up being the Right Front that was bad. Got the new sensor on, everything reset and they're all good now.

They'll flick in and out as the batteries get weak. You'll notice after a long-ish drive that you'll often lose the signal. Sometimes they'll come back ... sometimes not. Either way, when one dies at that age, the others are invariably not far behind.
