Strange issue after new engine install. Coils going crazy!
This has been a LONG project. We're building a 2001 Coupe. One shop took the car apart. The whole drivetrain was removed. They did a hack job, so we took the car out of their shop. I built the engine and transmission. It's a basic stock cube bottom end with Probe pistons, Eagle h-beams, etc. Elliot ported the stock castings. I used a COMP XER 281 cam, 42# injectors, ported throttle body, etc. I reused the stock coils.
We took the car to another shop to do the reassembly. It's all back together now, but they're having an issue. When you turn the key to the ON position, the coils start firing and squealing. If you pull the coil relay, the temp gauge goes crazy and the A/C goes on high. They tried putting their Modus on it and it has power but won't communicate with the computer. The computer tune is a mail order tune by PCMFORLESS. We sent them our computer to be tuned.
The shop has spent hours going over all the connections and grounds. Everything appears to be hooked up correct.
