Alrighty then, I'm getting ready for new tires and was wondering if I should replace the TPMS while doing the tires. I have an 04 and have never changed the TPMS before, so should I wait for the batteries in them to fail and the hassle then or be pro-active and do it with the tire change. If I change can I use the less exspensive replacement from Eckler's or should I get the more exspensive OEM type? What's the stories on this subject to be told?

If you are in a position to replace all the sensors; I'd do it. There's no telling how much longer the batteries will last. I have no experience with sensors from Ecklers. I used OEM when I replaced mine a year or two ago but I got a really good price on them. They are actually cheaper today then when I first purchased a set to install in my Z.

GM 25773946 The AC Delco part number is the same.

They run about $32 - $45 ea depending on where you shop. gmpartshouse or gmpartseast. Even Amazon or Ebay. I would NOT buy from Eckler's.

Also I suggest you program the sensors before mounting the tires. I used a Sharpie to mark the location (LF,RF,RR,LR) & programmed them without leaving the driver's seat.

It's much easier to train the sensors before they're installed in the wheels.
Any small magnet will work fine.

Schrader Part # 20117 is the same sensor. Schrader made the original sensors for GM, so they are the same part except the plastic body is orange instead of black.

Sometimes you can find a better deal on the Schrader ones than the GM ones.

Good luck.

I agree with you regarding Schrader's quality, etc. plus they've been around a very long time, but I find the majority of outlets selling them in the same general price range some of the ACD GM prices. I found GM (ACD) as low as $32 and Schrader about $35 (on the low end).

Definitely pays to shop around.
