So I finally pulled the string and bought a pair of 2004 z06 243 heads for my mostly stock 2001 ls1 convertible. It has a dual cone intake with fresh air supplied through the fog light grills, or lack thereof, and a corsa catback system with x-pipe. I plan on having the virgin heads, 25,000 miles I am told, ported just enough to unshroud the valves, then MAYBE installing long-tube headers. I will also put in a new cam with specs similar to a 2002-2004 z06. I want to keep my stock intake manifold since it is an ls6 but feel I need to upgrade the throttle body/MAF sensor to take advantage of the other upgrades. I want a 420-450hp motor out of it when I'm done.
Question one) Do I really need new headers? With the funds and equipment at my disposal this would probably be the hardest upgrade for me to do and I don't want to hear anymore exhaust noise than I already have. My corsa catback is perfect.
Question 2) Is the ls1 to ls2 TB conversion the only way to go? If so, what do I need beside the TB, adapter plate, and harness kit?
I know i'll need to have a professional tune when i'm done and other valve train components will be replaced as needed.
Help? Comments?

You dont need to touch the MAF for a 450hp motor. With a LS6 type manifold you dont need a LS2 throttle body either. My 00 with heads cam and the lowly FAST 78 with stock throttle body and MAF dynoed at 450rwhp.

Your list is great! I tend to put every little thing I see on mine and it has become ridiculously long. I think I will use yours as a template and decide on the rest after the house is paid off
