It's a 2001 convertible. 165k miles. 6spd. Excellent condition. Looks and runs like 65k. PO added vararam and ported throttle body, AR long tubes, and a tune. I've put the last 20k on it.
Driving at about 55mph, it suddenly cut power and got the AH and ABS message. Pulled over, checked codes, and got P1514, C1278, u1000, and U1064.
I've tried to do my homework, have read and searched 100's of posts, but am not sure what to make of this.
Any help?
Thanks
1514 and 1278 are married to each other. If you get 1514, you get 1278 automatically.
1514 deals with predicting airflow at varying loads and pedal positions as a safety measure. If too much air flows, you exceed the threshold, trip the 1514 code and go into REP. FYI, you can reset it on the fly and get back to driving by retrieving the codes and as they come up, press and hold RESET.
Head to your local tuner to have them carefully and properly bump the thresholds. Maxing out that table is not the appropriate fix because it's a safety measure designed to prevent you from ending up in a runaway freight train, so to speak. Make sure your tuner isn't a hack that likes to do that.
If I recall, the po said the tune was done at about 100k. Why would I start getting the codes and the issue now?
Thanks
Could have a vacuum leak and have been too close to that threshold where the vacuum leak pushed it over. That's all I can think of at the moment, but I would expect that a vacuum leak significant enough to cause that problem would cause other problems.
