Taillight issue tried everything need HELP!!!!!!!!
My father in law has a 2000 frc. The rear left turn signal want work.when u turn it on the back doesn't blink and the front blinks fast. If you turn the hazard lights on all the lights work. We have replaced the bulbs/ hazard switch/ light relays in the p side floor board/and pulled the turn signal switch a part and looked the contacts over. Hasn't worked in 2 months was driving yesterday worked one time cut it off and back on and it wouldn't work again. Thanks and please let me know if u can help. search all the threads and tried everything we can think. Also looked over all the connections.
It sounds like a turn-signal or multi-function switch problem. Do the left rear brake lights work? The wire which goes to the rear left signal and brake is yellow at the multi-function switch. You could check that it has power when the left signal is on.
Selecting the hazards actually changes a contact which disconnects the brake light switch and connects the brake light wire to the flasher instead. The hazards working would indicate the brake light work, which in turn would indicate the wiring and bulbs are OK. So, that would seem to indicate the problem has to be in the contacts in the multi-function switch.
I am with lionelhutz that your problem is in the Multifunction switch. Here is the schematic. Forget the grounds. The same ground is for the turn signal and brake lights.
