I took my C5 Coupe to the track today for the Corvette Challenge. The car ran perfect on the highway and in the aggressive canyons to and from...BUT..,.when on the track it would bog out in third gear under load at about 4,000RPM I let it cool and went for a heated run up the highway and it ran perfect. SO, back on the track (Chuckawalla) it bogged out again on the second lap.
Any ideas what to look for? I drove it 120 miles back home and it ran fine!
Could be the COT (Cat Over Temp) engaging if it's not tuned out.
Get HPtuners and log it as previously recommended!
it has not thrown any codes. no check engine light
at the risk of looking stupid, what it an HP tuner? where do I get one?
would the COT not throw a code?
I could not make it bog on the highway even after flogging it.
Here's the way I see it.
A. You can make yourself crazy trying to duplicate and repair this gremlin. Believe me, intermittent problems are the toughest to repair.
B. You can drive your car as usual. Try to find someone with hp tuners or a good scanner who goes to the same track events as you. Have them hook it up and you'll be ready if it happens again, you'll be ready.
Hp tuners is software you can get for your laptop. It's what many tuners use to reprogram your PCM after mods.
Just my 2 cents.
