Re: Poor quarter mile performance w/ 2000 coupe (Mean Green 2000)
Thanks for all of the replies. I realize my 60' time is very bad, but the car just seemed to die at the line, like the traction control was on, but I am positive it was turned off. The engine seems to be lacking low end torque. By the way what is the Mongoose system?
Thanks,
Dan
Re: Poor quarter mile performance w/ 2000 coupe (Cam69ss)
Are you turning the traction control off just before you get to the line? Cause I've noticed that if I turn it off too close to when I'm about to do a burn-out or going straight to the line, even though it says it's off, it will still act as if it is still on...

Your car WILL bog pretty heavily from this low of an RPM drop and due to the tires you're using. Once the car stops spinning and catches traction the RPMs will quickly fall (you feel a big bog) and then it'll take off. The trick is not to dump the clutch etc but to feather it out so you maintain a strong pull throughout and avoid this bogging off the line.
Re: Poor quarter mile performance w/ 2000 coupe (DEVETTE)
Launch RPM's should be between 2500 and 3000. Too little the engine gets out of the torque range, too much and you will be spinning the tires too much.
Re: Poor quarter mile performance w/ 2000 coupe (fast2000vette)
My 2000 coupe ran a best of 12.91 at 109 with a Z06 air cleaner, K&N filter, Dynomax exhaust, Corsa X-Pipe and BFG drag radials. Launched at about 3000 got a 1.79 60 foot and I didn't baby it at all. I am told I still had some wheelspin on that run.
You can do it with bolt ons. I can't imagine what it might have done with an LS6 intake added to the mix.
