Default help identifying some wires

I recently installed a tick master cylinder and while working beneath the steering wheel noticed two unconnected wires. The two connectors do plug into each other (although this didn't seem to change anything). One connector consists of four wires with female end terminals and the other is two wires with male end terminals.

All these wires appear to come from one pretty large relay, that is slightly below the trunk release button. (lower left hand side of steering wheel)

any help would be appreciated, car is a 99 frc

Just because they fit together doesn't' mean they should be blindly connected together. Are both of your clutch switches connected?

yes the switch at the bottom of the pedal travel (allows car to start) and at the top of the pedal travel (cruise control switch I believe) are connected, I did not unhook these wires during my master cylinder install

What are the wire colors for each connector?

I think it will show that this is related to a column lock fix. Did the previous owner tell you if he put in a CL fix?

Here is some info from the CL Guru. I think what you see are the ends of a K-Harness.

The GM K Harness, if it is installed is under the drivers side knee bolster. Here is a link on how to install a CLB.
The first part of the link describes and has pictures on how to drop the knee bolster (also lists tools needed):

http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=24

This should be a link to a picture of the K Harness:

When the knee bolster is down look for 4 wires (black, white, green and orange) at the point where the steering column goes up from the dash. Follow the 4 wires. If they go into a female connector that has ONLY 2 wires, one white and 1 purple, then you have the female connector of the K harness. If the female connector that they go into is attached to the bottom of the dash, then there is NO K Harness. If there is a K Harness, then follow the white and purple wires to the relay portion of the K harness. Then follow the 2nd tail of wires from the K harness to the female connector that is attached to the bottom of the dash. Disconnect it and disconnect th male connector on the end of the wires coming out of the column (wires are to the lock motor).

You can either leave the K harness hanging there of remove it from the car.

If you are installing a CLB then plug the CLB into the female connector attached to the bottom of the dash (you first need to use the tool from the CLB kit to unlock the column).

If you are NOT installing a CLB then just plug the lock motor male connector into the female connector attached to the bottom of the dash.

Thank you, that is it, it is the k harness with purple and white wires

the records of my car said it had column lock repaired in 08 around 100k miles i think, not sure exactly what was done to fix it though

so this means that a column lock bypass has been installed in the car and I will not need to worry about this happening again?

PM me with your phone number so we can discuss. No factory recall is a proper CL fix.

Please be careful in the future in plugging things together that could cause problems you don't already have. Could fry some modules. Need to know what the circuits are first.

In the meantime look at the LMC5 fix. Can Goggle that or go to Compliance Parts.
