I did eliminate the keys during one of the non start episodes, I tried both keys, neither would start the car. I'm keeping the resistor bypass as an option, I did measure the values of the keys...both measured at 681 ohms.
Thanks for the tip on the contact cleaner...I'll give that a try
Not at home now but I will try and give you a method to be able to jumper around the Security system to start and drive the car. May want to stash a jumper in the car in case you get stuck somewhere.
PS: Saying the car would not start is not very helpful. Did it crank, etc.

The engine does not turn over...the codes I listed in my initial post lead me to believe the fault might be somewhere in the VAT system chain.
I bought a pack of 680 ohm resistors yesterday, along with some contact cleaner for the ignition lock cylinder.
I'll spray the ignition cylinder today. The car has been starting since last Friday when the problem surfaced.
Here is the link to jumper around the security system. Go to post 8. Must be out of gear or in Park because the car WILL START AND MOVE OTHERWISE. This post will also provide you some info since he has the same/similar problem you do.
The jumper is just used to get the starter going to fire up the engine. Remove it as soon as it fires since the starter is engaged when the jumper is in place.
You can test it first with the ignition OFF to see how it gets the starter turning. Then with the key in ON you can crank and start the car and drive off.
I know several people that have used this and it worked perfectly.
