Seems like you are real familer with the program. I have a 99 A4 w/ 3.42 gears. It came with 2.73. As we both know Gear Scaling is not yet correct. My pblm is I keep hitting the Rev limiter at agressive throttle. I have tried but can't effect any change. How do you do it? Tom.
Re: Paging ToplessTexan...Ls1 edit shift pt. ? (96WhiteLT4)
I think I just sent your answer to the ls1edit mailing list. :)
Short version is to scale your target WOT shift speeds by (oldgear/newgear). They will appear (really) low but result in the OSS that the PCM wants to see. The working theory is that the shift keys off of OSS rather than vehicle speed.
The most challenging thing is working backward (forward?) from RPM to vehicle speed, modeling the converter along the way. I haven't tried setting the speed low, say to 0, and relying on the RPM parameter but I suspect that'll work too... IIRC, someone with non-standard gears posted that they had their A4 shift points *exactly* at 6300. ;)
Let me know how it goes. I have about $3500 and six months in this project and still have to deal with workarounds like this...
Re: Paging ToplessTexan...Ls1 edit shift pt. ? (ToplessTexan)
Thanks for your reply TT. I don't understand what you mean by old gear/new gear and WOT as I don't have that on my ver 1.05. What I've been working with is under transmission cal, a4 shift speed. There you have three columns. On that menu you have sub menus that are Normal mode shift speed, perf, Hot, and cruise within which you have tables. Please clue me in. tom.
Re: Paging ToplessTexan...Ls1 edit shift pt. ? (96WhiteLT4)
You want to multiply the speeds by by 2.73/3.42 (or 0.7982). Sorry about the tab thing... It USED to say WOT but that disappeared sometime between 1.03 and 1.05. :) Those three columns are the ones you want to mess with, they are for WOT. The tables the buttons on the left take you too are the part throttle shift speed tables.
I lowered my RPM values to ensure that they weren't playing a role in holding up the shift and that the shift speed adjustments were the only factor. When I was messing with this, I was investigating the OSS issue. It's probably easier to zero out the speeds and specify the shift with the RPM field if you're just interested in getting your shift where you want it.
