01 Z GUSHING fuel from filter area after replacement
i replaced my filter with a wix. i then drove about 45 mins on the freeway home and no problems. today i started it up and pulled it out and i started smelling gas very strong. i looked under the car and it was dripping like no other, enough to leave a large puddle under the car. do these fuel fittings leak normally after replacement? my jack is not at home so i have no way to get under her at the moment. any input would be greatly appreciated.
Your filter or connections should not leak after replacement. Something is wrong. Not sure if you didn't get the fuel line properly locked into the filter or something other. Definitely not normal.
how hard is it to replace the lines if this is the problem? the car has 30k on it and no signs of old age down there so im a little skeptical of whats really going on. i appreciate the support guys ill have some more info in a few days
where the black hardline from the engine mates up with the filter if i slide the filter back it starts leaking if i push it forward it stops. pushing the filter and line together as hard as i can doesnt result in any noticeable click or joining.
fixed! ripped it all apart and slammed everything back together and everythings snapped in, not sure what happened, seems like one of the prongs was hung up. btw guys, rock auto sells the wix filters for $40 or under; very good deal.
Did the filter help at all. I am thinking about filter, plugs, and wires. Over the yrs i can honestly say changing these components has never made a big difference in performance for my vehicles. Go figure
